Clinical supervision for Ohio LPCs and MFTs

Finding the right training supervisor shapes how you practice for years. Anjelica M. Nelson is dually licensed in Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a training supervision designation (LPCC-S) and an Independent Marriage and Family Therapist with a training supervision designation (IMFT-S). That combination lets her supervise counselors working toward the LPCC and marriage and family therapists working toward the IMFT, including the IMFT hours an LPCC-S alone can't sign.

Supervision toward the IMFT

Ohio's rules for IMFT licensure call for 200 hours of face-to-face training supervision, at least 100 of them individual, completed alongside at least 1,000 hours of client contact, 500 of which must be with couples or families present (OAC 4757-25-04).

Who can sign those hours matters. Under OAC 4757-29-01, no more than 50 of the 200 hours can come from an LPCC-S or LISW-S. The remaining 150 or more have to come from an IMFT-S or a qualifying AAMFT Approved Supervisor. On the west side of Cleveland, that kind of supervisor can be hard to find. As an IMFT-S, Anjelica can provide those necessary hours to gain independent licensure.

Supervision toward the LPCC

As an LPCC-S, Anjelica can provide training supervision for LPCs working toward independent licensure as an LPCC. For current hour and experience requirements, check the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board directly.

• Rate: $120 per hour for individual supervision. Discounted hourly rates are available for interns upon request.
• Dyadic and small-group supervision: please inquire.
• Agreement: she serves as supervisor of record under a written contract.
